History of La Casella Villa in Tuscany
The villa is formed by two parts and the oldest part that currently is the highest one, was one of the many watch Towers utilized by the papal army during the medieval period. For this reason, it was built on the hillside from where you have a wide view over the region. During the centuries, due to wars and weather conditions, part of the tower fell down and it was rebuilt in various ways, to be used as a watch tower, for housing and farm storage. The lower part of the house was built in the second half of 1800’s. Up to when the owner bought and remodeled it, the ground floor was used as a stable, cow shed and pigsty, while the tower was a storehouse for grains. The upper floor was dedicated to the living area of the family. You can read the story of the remodeling and see the changes in the photos at the house-book of the villa.
