Piero della Francesca

Piero della Francesca is a beautiful Tuscan villa named after the favorite artist of Arezzo. The villa has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths offering spectacular views. It’s perched on a stunning hillside location overlooking medieval villages and the Tiber Valley but close the Village of Monterchi, in Eastern Tuscany. In the surrounding unspoiled countryside owls and woodpeckers can be heard. This property is immersed in a forest of elm, oak and chestnut trees, comprising 20 acres of surrounding hillside with easy walks. Chestnuts and fruits were cultivated and livestock raised. The new owners purchased the land and its ruined house in 2001 and carefully rebuilt it, using original stone and salvageable beams, over the following 18 months. The owners use the villa for about half of each year.

Outside in the Garden of the Villa

The villa is surrounded by well tended open gardens and the lovely pool is situated in the perfect position to make the most of the views and the sunny days.  The panoramic swimming pool is 6 x 12 meters in size, with depth at 1.5 to 2.2 meters, open from May thru September.  On the poolside terrace are half a dozen wooden deck chairs and two umbrellas. There is a covered outdoor dining area at the back of the house that you conveniently enter thru French doors from the stunning kitchen and this dining area overlooks the pool and lawns. You also have a BBQ for cooking outside. At the front of the villa is a gate and parking for a few cars.

The villa has 250 sq. meters of living space. Downstairs is a fabulous modern stainless steel kitchen with two fridges and dishwasher, and the adjoining shaded terrace with table and 8 chairs to eat al fresco. The dining room is with an open connection to the kitchen and has an elegant glasstop table with comfortable modern chairs. From the 2 bedrooms, one is a twin and the other is a double, and each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom; one with shower and one with tub. You have the use of the fully equipped laundry room.

Upstairs is a loggia, lounge, library and 2 bedrooms. In the library is a baby grand piano, while the spacious lounge is furnished with a sofa group for gatherings and equipped with a satellite TV and with a access to the loggia that provided the original entry to the upper floor.  There are 2 large double bedrooms, of which one has an air conditioner. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, one with shower and one with tub. The villa is furnished to a very high standard with select minimalist furnishings and art, to reflect the simplicity of the location. The fireplaces in the villa cannot be used.

Distances to Villa in Tuscany

The villa is located at 6 km from the village of Monterchi. Monterchi has supermarkets, restaurants, butchers, barbers, florist, bars. In the summer there are free outdoor concerts at the Madonna del Parto Museum. Nearby are the famous Tuscan towns of Anghiari (16 km), Sansepolcro (20 km), and Arezzo (25 km).
