Villa de Michelangioli is an ancient country residence (sleeps 18+), with incomparable views over the farming valley. The current owners of this large manor house skillfully restored and transformed it into an exclusive private retreat. A 4 acre park surrounds the villa and features Italian style gardens with oaks and olive trees. Since the villa is set in the wide panoramic Chiana Valley, just 20 minutes west of Cortona, you’ll be an easy 20 minute drive also from the highway A1 exit. The rates start from € 4,750 per week.

Splendor at Villa Micheangioli Cortona

Villa Michelangioli is a large manor house with 9 double bedrooms, each complete with a private en-suite bathroom. The entire villa has air conditioning, with individual controls in all bedrooms. You can take the stairs or the elevator to the upper floor. For even larger groups, it’s also possible to have extra beds. You arrive along a private road driving thru the gates, and there is parking for another half a dozen cars.

Seems like this property sits in the perfect position for exploring all of Tuscany. You have Arezzo and Cortona just a short distance away. Florence, Siena, Perugia, Montepulciano and Assisi and other famed legendary and artistic towns are easily reached by car.

Pool and Garden at Villa de Michelangioli Cortona

This private farming estate covers almost 60 acres producing its own wine and olive oil. A lovely garden surrounds the villa and features a large swimming pool.  The pool-side terrace has sun loungers and umbrellas, covered tables and chairs. You would enjoy the unforgettable views over the fields of corn, sunflowers, grape vines and olive trees. There is conveniently also a barbecue to liven up your outdoor dining! The outside pool is open until end of September.

Inside on the Ground Floor

Inside Villa de Michelangioli you are met by elegant furnishings, rich fabrics, and attention to detail. Comfortable seating is everywhere so you can spend time at the dining table, hang out at the sofa seating group by the living room fireside, and finally play games in the panoramic glassed-in veranda.  The center of the ground floor is the living room that joins the similarly magnificent dining room thru a wide archway. Meals are prepared at the fully-equipped professional stainless steel kitchen. You have a separate laundry, and also on this floor is a smaller lounge with a television.

Second Pool Inside the Villa

Villa de Michelangioli boasts an indoor swimming pool in addition to the outdoor one. This inside pool has a counter-current facility with a whirlpool and an accompanying sauna. In the cooler seasons or in rainy weather it’s a rather fantastic opportunity to take a swim indoors where the pool water can be heated. Even more, you can jump into a whirlpool bath and enjoy the warm sauna.  Relaxing massages are also possible on request.

1 bedroom is on the ground floor, 7 bedrooms are upstairs, plus 1 in the attic. All 9 bedrooms come with satellite television, safe, air-conditioning/heating, and a small fridge.  2 of these are suites with their own living rooms, fireplaces and hydro-massage Jacuzzi tubs. Another suite, 4 doubles, 1 attic double room and the double room on the ground floor, all have private bathrooms. The beds certainly have high quality mattresses and sumptuous bed linen. You will also enjoy the luxurious towels and hair dryers in the spacious bathrooms.

History of Villa de Michelangioli Cortona

Villa de Michelangioli was originally built in the 18th century as a “Leopoldine” farmhouse. This style imitated the country-houses of the Florentine nobility. The family lived upstairs while the ground floor had the storing facilities and stables. It took almost two years to restore and rebuild this large farmhouse  into the attractive residence you find today. It’s obvious how the owners lavished loving attention to every detail.

L’Antica Dimora is 2 miles or 5 minute drive from the villa for good Pizza.
15 minute drive in Camucia we highly recommend the seafood restaurant Canta Napoli
Osteria della Lodola – Foiano della Chiana – best restaurant in the area, family friendly with garden, Carlo is a very good chef.
Panificio Menchetti – Marciano della Chiana – very good Bakery with restaurant and a fantastic Pizza.
Ristorante da Muzzicone – center of Castiglion Fiorentino – traditional menu with good big steak “Bistecca”.
Ristorante il Preludio – center of Cortona, great service, high quality, perfect location.
